Block-sparse Solutions using Kernel Block RIP and its Application to Group Lasso

چکیده
We propose kernel block restricted isometry property (KB-RIP) as a generalization of the well-studied RIP and prove a variety of results. First, we present a “sumof-norms”-minimization based formulation of the sparse recovery problem and prove that under suitable conditions on KB-RIP, it recovers the optimal sparse solution exactly. The Group Lasso formulation, widely used as a good heuristic, arises naturally from the Lagrangian relaxation of our formulation. We present an efficient combinatorial algorithm for provable sparse recovery under similar assumptions on KB-RIP. This result improves the previously known assumptions on RIP under which a combinatorial algorithm was known. Finally, we provide numerical evidence to illustrate that not only are our sumof-norms-minimization formulation and combinatorial algorithm significantly faster than Lasso, they also outperforms Lasso in terms of recovery.

Recovery analysis for weighted mixed $\ell_2/\ell_p$ minimization with $0<p\leq 1$
We study the recovery conditions of weighted mixed l2/lp (0 < p ≤ 1) minimization for block sparse signal reconstruction from compressed measurements when partial block support information is available. We show that the block p-restricted isometry property (RIP) can ensure the robust recovery. Moreover, we present the sufficient and necessary condition for the recovery by using weighted block p...
متن کاملAnalysis of Block OMP using Block RIP
Orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) is a canonical greedy algorithm for sparse signal reconstruction. When the signal of interest is block sparse, i.e., it has nonzero coefficients occurring in clusters, the block version of OMP algorithm (i.e., Block OMP) outperforms the conventional OMP. In this paper, we demonstrate that a new notion of block restricted isometry property (Block RIP), which is ...
متن کاملSharp Sufficient Conditions for Stable Recovery of Block Sparse Signals by Block Orthogonal Matching Pursuit
In this paper, we use the block orthogonal matching pursuit (BOMP) algorithm to recover block sparse signals x from measurements y = Ax+v, where v is a l2 bounded noise vector (i.e., ‖v‖2 ≤ ǫ for some constant ǫ). We investigate some sufficient conditions based on the block restricted isometry property (block-RIP) for exact (when v = 0) and stable (when v 6= 0) recovery of block sparse signals ...
متن کاملBlock-Sparse Recurrent Neural Networks
Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) are used in state-of-the-art models in domains such as speech recognition, machine translation, and language modelling. Sparsity is a technique to reduce compute and memory requirements of deep learning models. Sparse RNNs are easier to deploy on devices and high-end server processors. Even though sparse operations need less compute and memory relative to their ...

Denote A as an unknown dictionary, a ∈ R Kα×β as a block vector divided into K blocks whose size is α × β. We call this kind of block vector as s-block-sparse vector. The block ACS theorem: As for the dictionary A satisfying block 2s-RIP [1] with RIP constant δ < 1, if there exists another dictionary B, such that for any s-block-sparse vector a, we can find a s-block-sparse b satisfying Aa = Bb...
